Members
of Loka Dharma Seva Foundation Trust organized a Temple Cleaning event (Uzhavarappani)
on
Sunday 9 January, 2011, at Sri Vaishnavi Devi Temple, in Tirumullaivoyal which
is located 20 Km from Chennai. On
arrival members witnessed Laksharchana at temple. 108 Oil lamps were lighted by
members at Vinayagar Sannadhi. |
This
was their 62nd Uzhavarappani event that was performed from 10 AM to 3 PM. A total
of 33members, which included 23 Ladies, took part in the event and they had a
sumptuous Lunch provided by Temple authorities. After Lunch all assembled in Hall
where Dr. R. Subramanian appraised TC programme and planned Spiritual Satsangh
at each temple. Sri Palani, Trustee of the temple explained about history of this
temple, construction by Sadhu Parthasarathy and his devotion to the Temple main
Deity Sri Vaishnavi Devi. He also explained about the temple rituals and functioning.

After
Lunch members divided in several groups and started cleaning the temple. The whole
floor area of the main sannadhi was cleaned inside and outside and washed with
water. The dusts in ceiling and walls were removed. All temple vessels and lamps
were cleaned with detergents and tamarind at the well platform. They were polished
with Pitambari and dried in hot sun. |
The
main sannadhi area of Mata Sri Vaishnavi Devi, the main arch of Devi made up of
Gold and the wooden doors along with Gold plated arches were cleaned with wet
cloth. The garden areas were cleaned by Gents. At the end of the day's events
Sri Palani, Trustee of temple did an archanai, gave Devi prasadams to all. This
cleaning was done with full satisfaction of temple authorities and of members.
LDSFT express whole heart thanks to Sri Palani and temple staff for all facilities
offered. |
As
per wishes of few members, it was decided to have Temple Cleaning on 4th Sundays
of every month. This
one was the Temple Cleaning scheduled for December 2010 but was postponed to January
due to Rain. In
2011 we plan to clean Murugan temples, starting with plans to start from Sri
Kandakottam, in Parry's corner area on Sunday, 27 February 2011. |

is organising uzhavara pani [Temple Cleaning] on second Sundays of every month.
LDSFT
is engaged on several other activities of temples like 108 thiruvilakku pujas,
anmiga tours, Integrated
community development, Organisational networking, interacting like minded organizations,
establishing
devotees forums, conducting lectures on Hindu dharma, general education, training
volunteers on spiritual healings at hospitals and forming youth forums. Volunteers
and sponsors are needed. |
