LDSFT - 68th Temple Cleaning event on 24 July, 2011 -- Report
 
LDSFT organised the monthly 68th Uzhavara Pani event
at Arulmigu Bala Subramanya Swamy Temple
Eldam's Road, Teynampet, On Sunday, 24 July 2011
 
LDSFT with 44 members were at Thiru Bala Subramanya Temple, Eldam's Road, Teynampet, Chennai,
on Sunday 24 July, 2011 for Temple Cleaning. In this 14 were Gents, 30 were Ladies.
At beginning Dr.R.Subramanian gave a brief report on LDSFT's Temple cleaning of 12 Murugan Temples in 2011.
He explained about 2 trips to Orikkai Manimandapam on 12 June and 17 July.
On 17 July Kanchi Periava inaugurated a Spirtual Satsangh with his blessings.
RS thanked Sri. Kumerasan, EO of the temple [Tel: 2439 1892 / 994018 5513] and
Mrs Selvi, the office Asst for permission and all help.

LDSFT thank Sri. Umakanthan, Priest of the temple [Mob: 99 4007 9299] for arrangements.

RS welcomed the new members like Sri. Manickam and his relatives and thanked them
for bringing essentaial items like soap oil etc, Til oil for 108 lamps etc.
He also welcomed Smt. Radha Selvakumar and Sri. Selvakumar from Los Angeles, CA, USA.
They were shown the working of various teams.
Sri Umakanthan briefed the members about the temple and the faiths that public have as blessings
of a child birth for those who desire the same. Tea was served to all at 11 AM.
At Bala Subramanya Sannadhi all offered their prayers and Gurukkal did an archanai and distributed prasadam.
Gurukkal did a special archanai with Sankalpam for Selvakumar's family and prasadam given.
Members divided into groups started the cleaning works. Ladies team headed by Subashini and Ambika
cleaned the dozen trays with stand for lighting lamps. The other Ladies collected the temple lamps,
bells, arches cleaned with detergents, Tamarind and polished with Pitambari. Sri. Rajaraman and his family
cleaned the various sannadhis with detergents and washed with water. Sri K. Balaji scrapped the walls,

removed the writings using charcoal cleaned with water. He also dusted the ceilings at entrance.

A special mention needs to be made about Shri. Manickam's devotion. He bought sour curd added with rice flour
and washing soda. He applied this to Vinayagar vigraha on left at entrance and to Bairavar on right.
After one hour the curd paste was removed and idols were washed with water. All oily coatings cleared
and the vigrahas looked found shiny and clean. Pre and post treatments are shown in photos.

Finally 108 lamps were lighted at Durgai Amman Sannadhi, participated by all ladies including a new comer Mrs. Rukmani.
The temple arranged a sumptuous Curd Rice with Pickle and all enjoyed at Mantapam Hall.
It is planned that 69th month TC will be on Second Sunday 14 August, 2011 [Due to Admin reasons]
at a Murugan temple, Ice House area of Triplicane.
From September it was decided TC will be on 3rd Sundays. On September 18th, we plan Temple cleaning
at the famous Vallakottai Murugan temple. LDSFT plan 3rd and last trip to Orikkai / kanchi on Sunday 28th August, 2011;
those who desire to join in this event, please call us to book well in advance.

LDSFT is organising uzhavara pani [Temple Cleaning] on second Sundays of every month.
LDSFT is engaged on several other activities of temples like 108 thiruvilakku pujas, anmiga tours,
Integrated community development, Organisational networking, interacting like minded organizations,
establishing devotees forums, conducting lectures on Hindu dharma, general education,
training volunteers on spiritual healings at hospitals and forming youth forums. Volunteers and sponsors are needed.
