- Chandran Nava Graha Koil at Somangalam, which is located
at 30 Km from Chennai on Sunday 19th July 2009. 40 Members
participated includes 17 Ladies as volunteers for the event.
First time, we used 3 days old curd mixed with rice flour
and a spoon of washing Soda in cleanings the stone sculptures
and vigrahas like Nandi and all Moolavars. It was effective
in removing oily substances. More will be tried in future
cleaning programmes at remaining Nava graham Temples.
At
10 Am an abishekam started at Moolavar sannadhi with our
members sitting in front. There were chanting of Rudram/
Chamakam and other slokas led by Dr. G. Parthasarathy. The
Abishekam was arranged by Sri V. Seshadri, who sponsored
the event.
A good job was done by devotees led By Shri. T. Srinivasan
of Ayyapan Thangal and his father in removing thorns in
front of main sannadhi and a prathakshina pathway around
was made. Since in the evening was Pradosham, Abishekam
was performed. Thus the members witnessed twoabishekams
for
Sri Somanatheswarar
on that day. Abishekams were done at Ambal and Chandran
Sannadhis also.
The programme ended with Lunch for the devotees.
On
way back, members saw a magnificient Shridi Sai Temple run
by Shri Ramanan and his wife Smt Uma Ramanan. Shri Ramanan
