Our community has now come to realize that our Hindu Dharma is at its cross roads needing some reforms and realization that the spiritual part of our Faith must be integrated with the economic and social welfare of the community to bring up the glory and greatness of Hindu Dharma as it deserves in this new era, the sixth millennium of Kali Yuga. The efforts need to be taken up in a war path with a strategy proper for this new Maha Bharata War. We need to realize that there are various levels of Spiritual development and understanding among the Hindu Population and a vast majority of them are living at below poverty level, lacking basic education and basic needs of life. Most of these "Indigent Population" of the segments of Hindu communities, who are socially, economically, educationally and spiritually deprived, live in the urban areas / inner city, called the slums, and in many rural areas / small villages. Here they need our support for economic, educational, social and Spiritual development. This is taken up by LDSFT as the "Integrated Rural and Urban Community Development Projects" for the "Body, Mind and Soul". LDSFT plans to initially start this program in one or two small and underdeveloped and poor urban areas in and around the city of Chennai and near by rural area. Then slowly we can extend it to other areas. This will be the true reform and renaissance of Hindu Dharma.

The needed areas of the "Integrated Community Development Projects" are as follows. All of the four programs will go together in each locality and should be taken up concurrently.

1. Economic Development Projects will encourage the people in the community get proper vocational training and also get micro loans to start their own small businesses including home-based manufacturing like Sewing machines for tailoring, doll making, making pooja materials for religious practice and other handicrafts. We can attract major industries participate in this. We also need adult education and vocational training classes for adults.

2. Educational Development Projects will include program for children and adults. We need to develop educational programs for children, more like tutorial classes to get them motivated to study and get good grades, as there are already many schools. We also need basic and advanced Hindu Dharma classes in the tutorial classes and also Religious Practitioners courses to train teachers and preachers. We need to develop good library with books for the adult members and for school children.

3. Social Development Projects will include assisting and educating the people about proper cleanliness, proper protected water supply and sanitation practices with the proper use of available public facilities. Health education and health care camps need to be organized in each area with increasing health awareness to prevent diseases like infections, hepatitis, asthma, diabetes, hypertension, heart attack and stroke.

4. Spiritual Development Projects will be organized as a Faith Based initiative to be given along with the other threee projects to assist in uplifting the community with training in their traditions and culture. These will include identifying small temples of their Ishtadevatha and Grama Devatha and assist in renovating them and conducting regular worship services following their own traditional practices. We can then introduce them to other aspects of Hindu Dharma and the philosophy by conducting musical discourses. We need to organize training programs for the Poojaaris, teachers and preachers and assist in their welfare also.

  Oliver Wendell Holmes:
Greatness is not in where we stand, but in what direction we are moving. We must sail sometimes with the wind and sometimes against it -- but sail we must and not drift, nor lie at anchor.

The above Intergrated Development projects will be organised along with the core Objectives of LDSFT which will include Temple Rejenuvation - Renovation, cleaning, maintenance and Priests training and welfare programs as also training of the public in recitations of prayers and special studies in each of the small communities.

\

1. A centralised Corpus Fund programme will be created and organised for funding the Rejuvenation of several thousands of dilapidated Temples and also for the community to be involved in it as a centre for learning Hindu Dharma.

2. Every Temple, big and small, will be made into a seat of learning Hindu Dharma in addition to be centres for rituals and place of worship practice.
