A Grand Plan for Hindu Renaissance and Revival

A Central Body for the Upkeep of our Dharma and our Temples

Explanation of Ideas and Organizational Structure - - 02

At each temple the Local Board /Committee will plan the pooja and festival activities and appoint priests and also teachers to conduct evening classes to teach Hindu Dharma, Mythology, Vedas, Agamas, Puranas, Slokas, Yoga and other subjects to ALL devotees. These activities will increase Temple attendance, services and funds. Their activities and accounts will be supervised by the Regional or Zonal Councils - very much like the way banks function. In the event the organization at local level fails, the divisional body will come to help, support and if necessary, re-organize the local body. They can have authority to govern for 6 months to one year. This is very much like Presidents rule in States. This way, government or politicians can not take over the affairs of failing temples, as there is a regional council to re-organize the management.

Each village will send few representatives to the Regional or Zonal Council, so also few members appointed by the apex Regent council. This will ensure the credibility of the rule and authority of these regional councils. The people in the villages and small town who utilize the Temples and its schools will give more support. The Regional Council with the support from the Apex Council will be able to fight with the local authorities and individuals fighting for take over or misuse of funds. All of Southern States can have about 12 or 20 such councils - formed by elected members of Temples and few nominated by Apex Council. Initially, it may look as a difficult project. But, as and when each Temple joins this group, the Council will form itself. Some members of the council will be nominated by the regents and can function in several regional councils. All such members nominated to the regional councils and a set of members elected or nominated by other regional Temple members will form the Apex Management body - which in course of time will supervise all Temples and schools in all four Southern States, and open to other states if they want to cooperate and join forces. There are over 50,000 Temples in South India that needs such help.

Soon, the Apex Governing Council of Regents will become very powerful with sufficient authority equal to the HRE Board and will be able to fight for proper rights of each small temple and for Hindu Dharma as such. We can encourage other mutts and Adheenams also form similar bodies to organize the Temples that want to come under their supervision. Once such strong structures are formed, I am sure they can work with each other with full cooperation; and all of us can work together. The work may look enormous, but if we find a team leader for each of the 12 councils, they will be able to identify the other members. The overall general operating guidance can be given and each body will work semi-autonomously, answerable only to the Apex body AGCR. The 12 members of each council will be in AGCR. Once we collect a list of names of individual volunteers who would like to be members of this group, each one of them can be given the option to select participating in some of the several central or zonal or regional councils or individual Temple Boards or the sections of the Apex council. These are initial ideas which need to be worked out.

Members outside India can be part of the International council, develop local community activity and co-ordinate with the Central council and also participate in their Indian Home town council or the Apex Council. This way, any member in USA, UK and other countries can coordinate the religious activities for his or her community in the various countries they are living with Apex Council and their vast resources. Members living in various countries can form several zonal councils to organize their activities for maintaining and practicing Hindu Dharma and teach the Dharma to the new generation. They can also organize periodic camping trips to our research centers and also be involved in raising funds for the activities. They can be involved to participate in the International symposium as well as in the University research studies.

The names given are arbitrary to represent the idea and can be changed as needed.
