Dharma Seva Foundation A
Grand Plan for Hindu Renaissance and Revival |
| |
| | | |
| | | A
Central Body for the Upkeep of our Dharma and our Temples
| |
| | Explanation
of Ideas and Plans for Organization- - 11
| | What
do we plan?- Why, how and what to plan.
| |
| | 1.
We can plan a body that will maintain all of the present traditions or suitably
modify according to the realities of modern times and according to an intellectual
analysis of what and why of every tradition of our Shastras. As a group we need
not go into any of these, but go with the times. 2. The conservatives
among us would like to preserve and protect the existing rights of jaathis and
varnas based on birth based genetic factors while the liberal would like to open
up according to ones in-born qualities, individual desire and capabilities. We
need to be inclusive and not exclusive.
| |
| | 3.
The realities of times show that the past 56 years of independence from British
rule has not done anything for the Hindu religion or the Hindu community as a
whole, but all the indirect control on the society has been acquired by secular
ruling sects of politicians to their short term advantage. 4. Even
the political parties that professed "pro-Hindu" leanings did not change
anything but accepted the same political privileges to their advantage. We need
to get the Temples away from government control and every member has to go through
a course of study and a "Hindu ceremony" or Namakarana ritual.
| |
| | 5.
The Foundation should plan the same way, as independent, autonomous group of set-up
for all Temples, Schools and services that presently the government is doing and
missionaries are doing based on the same lines. 6. We can still have
Vedapatasalas teaching Vedas and Agamas exclusively to birth based priest classes,
but also open up such new schools to anyone with prerequisite qualification and
interest. There are many devoted Hindus in other classes who have inborn desire
to learn these texts. They will do well.
| |
| | 7.
But, we need to face the realities that many children of priests family are going
for secular professions if they are intelligent enough, leaving only the very
poor, non-intelligent and physically and mentally deficient ones available in
future. So, we need to make the profession and knowledge interesting and materialistically
advantageous. Some taking part-time priest work will be helpful. 8.
This means, that we need part time and week-end priest class who may be engineers,
doctors, officers or businessmen also practicing the priests job. This means we
need a society with 10 to 20 times more qualified priests. In ancient times, Brahmins
were also farmers, taking care of the land or have a restaurant in addition to
priests' job as assignment of family tradition or duty.
