Archakas, Poojaris and Priests welfare programs- - 14

Now, let us consider what we need to do and why we need to do. For too many years we have been complaining and crying about our problems. Now it is time to stop and think about it. Now, let us think about a solution. Like in any military strategy in any war, when alien rulers entered the land of Bharat that is India, they all did a wonderful job of their occupation. It was wonderful for their leaders and their kings to hold on and rule the land and its people. If we analyze this aspect of history, then we have a solution right here. We just need to undo what has been done. For this, we need to change the way we have been thinking, and we have been made to think. Let us analyze. If one needs to fight a war against the people of any land, they need to destroy the people of their faith and their mind. They need to destroy the ruling king and destroy their priests who teach their faith, to win over their allegiance to the new ruler. They need to destroy their teachers who teach their population. They need to divide the population and let them fight among themselves.

The most important thing we need to do is to establish a mechanism to support the welfare of our priests, preachers and teachers who will help us to uphold our faith and traditions and educate all of us on the religious matters. When alien rulers entered the Indian Sub-continent and established their control, they encouraged their faith to be become popular and accepted as an alternate path and if not converted, at least respected. This way, the rulers ensured that the loyalty will be towards their kings. The first thing they ensured was that the supremacy of the Hindu priests and teachers were to be destroyed and many of their schools or temples are to be destroyed. They also destroyed the respect the public had for the religious leaders and also created and encouraged divisions between the various sections of the communities who were already fighting among themselves. This is in contrast to the actions they did to destroy the joint family system and marriages among close relatives in Europe and West Asia to increase respect to their Church and their priests.

People who know the history of India know all these things. We need to set right all these damages that have occurred. We should not blame the aliens for all these. They did a superb job of what they were told to do. We need to attend to the welfare of the priests and teachers. We need to ensure that the status of all these teachers, preachers and teachers are improved and they regain the lost positions and respect in the communities. At the same time, we need to encourage many members from various communities and both genders come forward to take up these responsibilities with encouragement and support. Equal privileges will create a sense of justice and a confidence in the leadership and in the faith itself. There are not many who want a position as priest; but it will definitely encourage many interested ones to learn about the Dharma.

Loka Dharma Seva Foundation should encourage a main section of the Apex Council directly take the responsibility of studying the needs of the existing Priests and Teachers in various sections of the community at large and support the welfare of all them in need and also their family. This will encourage them to function better in the community to teach, preach and perform all necessary traditional rituals to all community members. With better understanding, the community will come forward to help the cause of the foundation in the renovation activities and maintenance of hundreds of temples and their schools. The public will send their children and also come forward themselves to attend the schools to gain a better understanding of our dharma. Once we encourage all to follow the traditions and study the religious texts, more of them will utilize the services of these priests and teachers and encourage the cycle of the welfare of the priests and the community as a whole. Many of the poor priests and their families need our financial support and they deserve and would appreciate such help. We may, at the same time, be cautious that such a scheme is not misused. Many who do not need such support may come in with requests and demands with out side pressures. We must remember also available resources may reach their limits and funds may not be available for other essential services as planned. So, the specific rules for such a scheme must be prepared well ahead of time and strictly followed. This could be like additional support for their services and for educational programs, like a scholarship and guest teaching funds. This should be identified as a separate service in addition to the Foundation Temple projects with schools and priests.

Initially, the program may be started in few selected areas, as local support is received and the needs are identified. Later, it may need to be extended to cover the entire four Southern States. Ultimately, the scheme can be made available everywhere in the Hindu community where there is a need. In this, all types of Saiva, Saaktha, Vaishnava and other Temple Priests, Archakas, Thaanthris, Poojaris and home priests, Sastrigals and other Hindu religious service preachers are to be considered. The Foundation will need to build the infrastructure with a committee of Apex council members who will spread the message, identify and recommend the families that will receive the benefits. They shall build-up data base of beneficiaries, with categories of needs; prepare a questionnaire and request them to fill the form, containing family details, educational qualifications, service, economic status, current Income & worth. They shall meet them personally, ascertain the worthiness, and recommend to the council. Council shall meet periodically to decide on this matter and their determination shall be final. The services and help of existing priests service organizations like the Archakar Sangam and individual leaders should be utilized and supported to make the work easy and all inclusive.
